2012 and beyond

2011 ended and 2012 started with several new items in my armoury, Firstly the new freezer baits from Richworth: Super tutti and NV along with a pot of the super tutti pop ups. I thought I had my hands full in 2011 trying to work out what colour/flavour hookbait to use with my favoured XLR8 freezer baits. I now had a new food bait along with a winter winner in a duller colour to factor into the equation.

2012 and beyond

Fluro's at range seem to be the order of the day for the time being

Fishing wise I had one trip to a water in the midlands just before the festive break, I chased any fish I saw show with singles or a swim move. I hadn’t visited the water before and therefore didn’t know the going spots within any of the swims. On the last morning the fish turned up in a swim to my left which was occupied, from 2am to 4am I heard quite a few lumping out however despite trying a few different presentations and baits I just wasn’t close enough to the fish. I had left my chest waders next to the rods with a pvc sling over them to keep them dry for two days and when I removed the cover both waders were half full of acorns!! Pesky blighters them mice they will adapt to any situation. With the festive season behind us and the weather being remarkably mild I have got my fishing head on again in a big way, Rigs tied, line replaced, tackle boxes and lead bag replenished, barrow bag etc emptied and repacked with only the essentials!!

Shooting Carp TV at Fryerning

2012 started with an opportunity to join DJS Tackle as a Consultant, My first port of call was a trip way down south to Fryerning fisheries to meet up with DJS supremo David Stevens. The trip coincided with some filming with Jo and co from Carp TV which will be available for all to see in the February or March edition of Carp TV. If any of you are in the market for any high specification, well made gear at very nice prices look no further than: www.djstackle.co.uk We will be working on the website and an exciting range of new tackle items going forward along with the key items that DJS currently produce.

2012 and beyond

DJS Z1 home sweet home for 2012.

In years gone by I have always held a number of tickets which doesn’t help when trying to decide which venue to visit, this year I have cut that down substantially I will only have my Elstow two ticket and my private syndicate water along with a local club who control some amazing river fishing rights. 2012 will see me fishing the private water building up a picture of the fishes habits and movements and trying to sort out a few spots ready for the spring, with the kind permission of the owner I will keep you updated via my blogs as to how it all pans out. Now then just one more plastering job to do then I can start to think about fishing again. Until next time Ken Beech
